Once you're past the "Gone", as it's described in the novels, you might seem zombie-esque to others as you lack any sanity and your body begins to deteriorate physically. The Flare takes root in your brain and essentially makes you devoid of all emotion and rational thought until you completely lose it. "Cranks" are not fucking zombies, not to that extent at least. This is probably the thing that pissed me off the most. "The Flare Virus" is turned from a pretty interesting epidemic in the novels into some generic Hollywood zombie bullshit.The planet was ravaged by solar flares and the Scorch is supposed to represent the location (close to the equator) that got hit the worst and they just completely gloss over that fact. The Scorch being.well, more than just a desert? In the novels it is heavily emphasized that the while the sun is out in the Scorch, you need to be covered up or you will get serious burns within minutes.Telepathy is cheesy as all hell to convey in a movie setting. ![]()
